Learn how the Stories Exchange works, how to accumulate story points, and how to get your own stories viewed and liked by the community.
What is the Stories Exchange?
The Stories Exchange is a reciprocal system designed to increase the reach and visibility of your Instagram Stories.
By viewing and interacting with the stories of other creators in the community, you earn story points. These points can then be spent to boost your own stories, signaling to the Instagram algorithm that your daily content is highly engaging and driving it up the queue for your existing followers.
Live Rooms: when the exchange is actually running
The Stories Exchange no longer runs around the clock against people who aren't there. It opens as a live room, and while a room is open you are matched only with the other creators inside it. Everyone gives, everyone receives, in the same session.
A Stories room opens the moment 12 creators are ready at the same time. There is no fixed day and no schedule to wait for — if enough people are ready right now, it opens right now. Rooms can also be opened at an announced time, which we use when we want everyone in one place.
In a room of 12, the system grants each creator about 8 stories to receive, and raises that as more creators arrive. Nobody's share shrinks because the room grew — late arrivals top up everyone already inside.
What you do: open the exchange, press I'm ready to engage, and you are counted. Your seat holds for a full hour even if you close the tab, so you can go and prepare while you wait. If the room hasn't opened by then, mark yourself ready again — the counter is a rolling hour, not a countdown that wipes everyone at once.
Once open, a room stays open for at least an hour, then closes when fewer than 6 creators are still in it.
Stories works off your profile rather than a post, so there is nothing to queue. The only preparation is being in the room while it is open.
How to Earn Points
You earn story points by watching and occasionally liking stories from other creators in the "Earn Points" mode:
- Free tier — 1 point per 7 stories viewed
- Pro tier — 1 point per 6 stories viewed
- Max tier — 1 point per 5 stories viewed
Points are instantly awarded as you complete the full viewing of a story. Always let the story play for a few seconds to ensure the view registers officially on Instagram's side.
How to Spend Points
To get your own stories viewed by the community:
- Go to the Stories Exchange page and select Spend Points mode
- Make sure you have at least one active story posted within the last 24 hours (The system will redirect community members to your profile where they will automatically queue your story)
- Choose how many points you want to spend (1 point = 5 views received)
- Submit your order
The community will begin watching and engaging with your story immediately.
Important Quality Rules
When accumulating points in the Stories Exchange, it's vital to actually view the content!
The platform relies on an honor system backed by intermittent quality checks. Rapidly clicking that you viewed a story when you didn't actually open it and view the media will result in steep deductions to your profile's health score. Community members rely on genuine views—please give back the same quality you want to receive.
